Zadar has an interesting old town with Roman and Venetian ruins, but it also has a great beach walk. The market closes just after lunch so maybe do that, because once on the beach walk you might not come back for a while.
To take the beach walk, walk from the shuttle bus stop, past the man-made concrete ‘pipes’ built into the steps, along the promenade and around the old wall to the main gate, then, continue (right) along the seafront. There are many bike hire points if you wish to go further and get a tan on your back.
You can visit an exclusive island, or white-water raft off a small waterfall. See below, check your insurance.
Things to see by foot include the 11th-century St. Mary’s Convent, with religious art dating to the 8th century. Note some places do not allow photography.
Looking at the locally offered attractions and tours is the first thing a movie location scout will do to research a place.
