Sea Cloud Cruises is a Kiel-based cruise company in Germany, managed by Daniel Schaefer (CEO). For over 40 years, SEA CLOUD CRUISES ships have sailed off the beaten tourist track treating other cultures with respect. As well as popular destinations, they find smaller, more individual harbours.

The beat of the wind and waves determines the rhythm and direction of life on board. Under arched sails, the values of classic seamanship are in the foreground.

EXPLORATION

Sea Cloud

Sea Cloud was originally commissioned by the tycoon E.F.Hutton for his wife, the heiress Marjorie Merriweather. They set out to create an incomparably luxurious vessel and succeeded beyond imagination. That was the late 1920’s. Even today, she is one of the finest and most opulent sailing ships in the world.

It was built in Keil, Germany. Years ago, on the Arcadia we stopped there during the Tall Ships Festival.

The ship was ordered and started over ten years ago, however, the original shipyard fell into trouble. Building of the 100 million dollar ship restarted in 2018 at Metalships and Docks SAU in Vigo, Spain.
