Originally built as a summer house in 1606, the 400-year-old Renaissance castle was Christian IV’s favourite castle.  His colourful personality left a strong mark on it and Danish history. The Danish Royal Guard march from Rosenborg Castle to Amalienborg Palace where the Changing of the Guard ceremony takes place. It is an easy and pleasant walk to Rosenborg Castle, but the queues can be huge. When purchasing a ticket they allocate an ACCURATE entrance time. You cannot get in earlier. On holidays queues can be Vatican like. Entry is on timed tickets and when it’s busy you may not get in easily. We advise booking on line in advance.
