The nearest island to Dubrovnik, Mijet is the southernmost Croatian island in the Adriatic. Many boats use Sobra Port, but it is small and guests will use a tender. It is an ideal holiday island from which to visit Dubrovnik. Much of it is a National Park with beautiful bays try Sutmiholjska Beach. Rock formations and caves make for great swimming. Odysseus Cave is likely to be a trip on offer locally. The many small villages are welcoming and Blato Village is a one-street village near to the vineyards that can be got to by scooter or bicycle, either can be hired. It could be the island of “Melita” mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles where St Paul was shipwrecked.
Looking at the locally offered attractions and tours is the first thing a movie location scout will do to research a place.
