Miami is such a hustle, you might just want to jump on the Big Bus tour. There are three loops, to do them all with a little get on and off time, get out as early as you can. The Big Bus tour is shown in our other film in the Miami section. If you want to get to the beach, the easiest way is to walk off Dodge Island via the bus, in the Bay Centre, grab a 120 bus as shown here. But be warned, we nearly missed the ship back. Why? We had timed the bus there, but on the return, it was rush hour and it stopped at every stop. Leave before rush hour.
So please note, Miami has a rush hour. Getting back to the ship could be their rush hour, so get the bus an hour before you think, it is still a long day. It will stop at many stops. Eating there is expensive, and you have to tip, so use the ‘grab and go’ from the ship (it has to be taken the day before and it will be a smash and go.
Ocean Drive is just along from the beach, it all runs parallel to the bus. There you will find many sights from cocktails in glasses the size of American cars to girls being body painted to crowds of observers.
Essentials – cruise travel labels and our cruise crime novels – oh, and the seasickness bands.
The Port guides here on Doris Visits are a great way to remember your cruise and share with your friends. The mystery thrillers are a whole new way to experience cruising. You may not have been to the ports in the novels, you certainly won’t have been to the parts of the ship they use. All the cruise crime novels will make you feel like you are in the adventure and on the ship – dodge the bullets and stay out of the romance. Ship and cruise accurate, the novels are a great way for new cruisers to discover a ship too.
