Eilat is the southern Israeli port on the Red Sea, next to Aqaba in Jordan. There is a double fence with gates and guards between them, as seen in a classic spy movie. It does mean that the wonderful tour available in Jordan may be available to you if you can cross, these would include Petra. However, this is a stop where you are likely to crash on the beach, snorkel, dive in the Red Sea or maybe go and see the dolphins. Timna National Park is there for those not wishing to basque in the sun. It is a yellow sandstone area surrounded by mountains. It contains Solomon’s Pillars, which are two natural stone columns.
