Come Alive! – An Unmissable Theatrical Experience.
Come Alive! is an immersive theatre adaptation of The Greatest Showman that lives up to every expectation. Currently playing at the Empress Museum (Theatre) near West Brompton tube station, this production is a breathtaking blend of talent, energy, and creativity. From the dazzling acrobatics—including the occasional triple somersault—to the poignant storytelling, every cast member delivers a performance that is nothing short of extraordinary.
All the iconic songs from the film are included, with standout moments such as a mesmerising fire act depicting the theatre’s destruction. Every aspect of the show is meticulously crafted, and the audience response is electric. You know a show is a sensation when there’s no need for posters, interviews, or advertisements. With tickets selling fast—only the occasional single seat remains available weeks into the new year—it’s clear this production is a must-see.
The story follows a showman as he passes his coat—and legacy—to a newcomer. Both the narrator and the ‘new kid in town’ give exceptional performances, adding depth and emotion to the spectacle. While the experience isn’t cheap, the value is undeniable. Drinks are priced at typical London bar rates, and the fast-food-style menu is efficiently managed via apps or computer stations, even for halftime orders.
Housed in a warehouse-turned-theatre smaller than the Wembley venue for Starlight Express, the intimate 700-seat setting amplifies the magic. The acting, choreography, and direction are of the highest calibre, with athleticism and precision reminiscent of Olympic-level performances.
Our Tip: Arrive as soon as the doors open to explore the pre-show events before the venue gets crowded. Later, enjoy a drink at one of the stylish bars. While flash photography is prohibited and phones must be on silent, the show thrives on organic buzz from vloggers and social media posts rather than traditional advertising.
This review is entirely independent—we paid for our tickets—and we can confidently say the experience was incredible.
A Perfect Day Out in London
Our day began with lunch at Trishna, the Michelin-starred Indian restaurant, before a leisurely walk through London’s Christmas lights en route to the theatre. Trishna deserves a special mention for its exquisite dishes, which were as delightful as the show itself.
If you’re looking for a unique, unforgettable theatre experience, Come Alive! will not disappoint.
