Balmoral is the largest ship of the Fred Olsen fleet, but it still only takes 1350 guests. It has 710 well-appointed rooms and suites. The Balmoral is small enough to navigate narrow waterways, such as the Kiel Canal and stop at more ports than larger ships can, providing fantastic scenic cruising opportunities missed when sailing on larger vessels. The Scottish theme runs throughout the ship with the names of all fine-dining restaurants being influenced by the Highlands; the Ballindalloch, Avon and Spey. There is a 5-course a la carte menu in the Ballindalloch, Spey and Avon Restaurants. In contrast there is the self-service buffet in the Palms Café and also an al fresco setting in The Grill.
