This film is just on the São Brás Fort and military museum see our other film for the port guide. It only cost a few euros and it has guns and armoury from different conflicts through different generations.
If you have an interest in the military and armoury then I think you will find this great value for money. If you don’t, the cost is minimal and it can be done very quickly. It is a small fort with good views of the harbour and your ship from the battlements. The other rooms are full of guns and weapons and some medical and hospital equipment used throughout the ages in times of conflict. Built in the 16th century to defend against pirate attacks, São Brás Fort was the most important fortress of all the existing fortresses in the city. It is strategically placed to the west of Ponta Delgada and there is a monument dedicated to the seamen who perished in World War I. This fort is now used by the Command of Azores Military Zone. It has been classified as a National Trust Building. The film below shows you some of the things you will find in the fort.
Here is our main Ponta Delgada film
In short, the weather changes by the minute and there can be four seasons a day. There is a fort, tiny town, and a small harbour. You can go canyoning, climbing, swim with wild dolphins, or take a trip to the lakes in volcanic craters, or go diving.
