David Withington from one of our associated websites has made a video on Apia, Samoa.
Samoa, officially the Independent State of Samoa was until 1997, known as Western Samoa. Not to be confused with American Samoa; in 1904, the Samoan islands were split into two. Samoa is the western side; the eastern islands became territories of the United States.
Samoa is a Polynesian island country consisting of two main islands; two smaller, inhabited islands; and several smaller, uninhabited islands, including the Aleipata Islands.
If you are not going to Samoa, but are stopping at Hawaii, here is an idea. For a long and interesting visual bus ride that you would pay a premium for on a coach, you can travel from the public bus stop outside the cruise terminal all around the island with one easy change in the north. Ask to be put off at the Polynesian Cultural Center. It is a dramatic theme park with shows. See the video.
It can rain in that part of the globe. When I say rain, I mean drop with water, like I have never seen. We filmed in Fiji just after the worst cyclone in their history and were trapped in a bar for 24 hours while it hit. We then made Bula Quo, so you might like to view the story of that too.
If you are off to Fiji next, here is Lautoka.
You are then very likely to be off to Fiji, and we have a number of videos on Sydney.
