Constantinople was the capital city of the Roman/Byzantine Empire, the Latin Empire and the Ottoman Empire. For a cruiser, it separates the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea. Passing Istanbul into those waters is a longer cruise into a bigger adventure.
