Marella’s smallest ship is leaving port. 1350 passengers in 627 state rooms in this small cozy 1983 built ship. Now returning to her owners Holland America she leaves the Marella fleet in 2018. The Spirit had been the longest-serving ship in the TUI Marella fleet and is as popular now as it’s ever been, certainly with those who love small ships with a homely feel. It offers a lot of what the larger ships do, it just appears more friendly – fine dining, Gym with ocean views, and entertainment that includes everything from Broadway-style shows to live cabaret and a full daytime activity programme. Dining at the Compass Rose Restaurant is an elegant affair at breakfast, lunch and in the evening for a multi-course dinner with waiter service. It has an open-seating policy, so you can dine where and when you like during opening times. The Lido restaurant is the buffet. We spent ages looking for a concise video of the Spirit that was up to date and although we don’t normally like to use the commercial film this was the best.
