The commercial battle on the Southbank that gave us the slightly quirky and different Christmas market at the Tate Modern, is lost this year. It seems the battle for Christmas markets is not subject to the peace and good will. So, this is what it was like, a little different.
When I say lost, it is a loss to us, because the market was the best of the London Christmas Markets. It appeared that after Christmas 2013 the Southbank Christmas Market changed hands or management, and with it came new operators and out went some of the people who had made the market famous. Some of them moved down to the Tate but sadly it appears to have been cancelled this year. This is what it looked like in 2016 and what we are missing. Unusual and different things rather than franchises in wooden huts.
One of the nicer things to do at Christmas is to take a bus tour and look at all the lights.
If you are stuck for unusual Christmas Presents we have found a few odd ideas as inspired by our stop in Richmond before visiting Kew. From chocolate brussel sprouts to a bicycle pizza cutter! We found them cheaper on Amazon for you.
