B718 was the best Strictly Cruise ever!
Dancing has always been huge on cruise ships, and Strictly Come Dancing is certainly huge. If you were there you can now show your friends what they missed, and if you were there here is the chance to see a glimpse and remember. Our main presenter Jean @DorisVisits started as a dancer and appeared on many a pier including Blackpool with humongous acts like Jimmy Tarbuck and Cilla Black, and our producer Stuart St Paul worked for years with Arlene Phillips on many pop videos like Wild Boys, and with Bruno on Elton John videos. The team claim they will be bigger and better, let’s all look forward to the next Strictly Cruise. Take a look.
P&O have had 4 Strictly Come Dancing cruises in 2017, we were on the last one on the Britannia. It takes a large ship to host such an extravaganza; not just the dancing but the Q&A with the stars and the vast array of costumes from the show in fashion events. Take a look at our news report. First up were Janette and Aljaz, then Karen and Kevin. Move over for Peter Andre, Craig Revel Horwood and then the producers. There were also fashion shows of the costumes and passenger dance offs judged by Craig. Who would put themselves through that? The other entertainers included Darren Day, Cherly Baker and Tucker. The week never stopped. For a day by day blow of the cruise, a blog by our presenter Jean Heard click here
Stuart St Paul was on the cruise from @DorisVisits talking about film and television, with his Angels & Demons reveal of Rome as well as his stories of directing Status Quo in Fiji and the Wild Boys pop video days with Arlene Phillips. He also covered his work on shows from Emmerdale to Mrs Browns Boys to the huge TV mega shows like Strike Back for HBO. As he has attended the Cannes film festival since the mid 1980’s and had his film The Scarlet Tunic chosen there for red carpet in competition at the romantic film festival of Cabourg he did a fill in on what the passengers might have missed there when the ship diverted to Corsica. All in our film.
The cruise stopped at Gibraltar where we have a film on the town and the glass blowing. Britannia also stops at Alicante, Barcelona where our Doris Visits film shows you how to save money by using the metro. (List of Barcelona Tours), Corsica, La Spezia (List of La Spezia Tours inc Pisa and Florence), Rome (List of Rome Tours)(see Doris Visits films below including how to get the best picture of the Trevi Fountain) and Cartagena (List of Cartagena Tours).
Top Judge Craig Revel Horwood
Judge Craig Revel Horwood was Fab-U-Lous in his four shows, and he judged the passenger Strictly Come Dancing onboard competition. You must must must book the next one before they sell out. They expect to be announce in the forthcoming months as all on board confirmed discussions and ongoing to make it bigger and better. Then the extra extra icing on an over full cake, Peter Andre did four shows, Darren Day played the Limelight, as did Cheryl Baker. It was a full on non stop, entertainment full cruise of a life time.
You can dress like the stars – on a budget
Oh my, what to wear? Not only will the costumes be on display and in fashion extravaganza, but some costumes may be available to buy. However, we did a little researching for you if you wish to buy a dress before you go and not spend a fortune. Take a look, at these sneaky prices, you might as well throw one of these little numbers in the case if you cannot afford the wonderful originals.
