The best cruise experience ever! The mediterranean has always been popular. Dancing has always been huge on cruise ships, and Strictly Come Dancing is certainly huge. It seemed natural to put them all together. With a ship holding 3,000 guests and Elstree only holding 600 most of which is consumed by relatives and friends of artists and other celebs, then you know where you are most likely to get up close and personal on a daily basis for two weeks? On a ship.
This wondrous show at sea has far exceeded any of the combined organisers dreams and they just wish there were more dates in the year. Where else will the dancers stand a chat with you while pictures are taken? So we have a few blogs that reveal all, what goes on and how on a day by day blow, the hot bedding and running for airports as dancers change mid cruise is on Jeans other blog. Our presenter, Jean Heard started as a dancer and was Debbie’s tennis partner for a while in Barbados – no wonder she has been our dark horse tip from the start in the betting odds. She has appeared on many a pier including Blackpool with humongous acts like Jimmy Tarbuck and Cilla Black. Our producer Stuart St Paul worked for years with Arlene Phillips on many pop videos like Wild Boys, and with Bruno on Elton John videos, has appeared on The Generation Game twice with Bruce and was on the cruise as a daytime speaker. Take a close look.
If you have never cruised, take a look around our site. We try and show the cruises, the ships and the routes so you can choose the right floating hotel or resort going to the right places with the right amount of fun and or privacy. P&O have had 4 Strictly Come Dancing cruises in 2017 and have four in 2018, we were on the last one on the Britannia. It takes a large ship to host such an extravaganza; not just the dancing but the Q&A with the stars, the meet and greet and photograph opportunities. These are seriously up close and personal. Plus the vast array of costumes from the show in fashion events as you will see in our film. First up were Janette and Aljaz, then Karen and Kevin. Move over for Peter Andre, Craig Revel Horwood and then the producers. There were also fashion shows of the costumes and passenger dance offs judged by Craig. Who would put themselves through that? The other entertainers included Darren Day, Cherly Baker and Tucker. The week never stopped. For a day by day blow of the cruise, a blog by our presenter Jean Heard click here
The Med Cruise Route is a typical route, just add more entertainment than you have time to watch.
The cruise stopped at Gibraltar where we have a film on the town and the glass blowing. Britannia also stops at Alicante, Barcelona where our Doris Visits film shows you how to save money by using the metro. (List of Barcelona Tours), Corsica, La Spezia (List of La Spezia Tours inc Pisa and Florence), Rome (List of Rome Tours)(see Doris Visits films below including how to get the best picture of the Trevi Fountain) and Cartagena (List of Cartagena Tours).
Not only will the costumes be on display and in fashion extravaganza, but some costumes may be available to buy. However, we did a little researching for you if you wish to buy a dress before you go and not spend a fortune. Take a look, at these sneaky prices, you might as well throw one of these little numbers in the case if you cannot afford the wonderful originals.
- Take a look at the two ship layouts. The Britannia and the slightly smaller Azura and Ventura are the same. We doubt you will be in your cabin much so spend the extra money of yourselves.
