Steam Train in the Fjords – Rauma – if not there’s a modern train – great route

A trip on Rauma Railway reveals the most spectacular scenic areas in Norway. Rauma Railway goes between Åndalsnes and Dombås with four daily departures all year, in very modern trains and the trip takes 1 hour and 40 minutes. In the summer an electronic guiding system provides information about the sights along the route like a bus tour guide system. Big panoramic windows will make sure that you can enjoy the splendid view. The train also contains a toilet, a wheelchair elevator and a NSB MENY Automat service.   Ships Dock Here – Google Map position

We are also told of the steam train, but we have not done this so we searched out a video of someone who did follow the stream train. We have no details of how to book it but the ship may well have it as a tour.

Elsewhere in the area there is much to do, including base jumping off the top of the mountain – not recommended as it is now against the law to jump off the 6000 ft high troll wall. Some do.
