The twin sister of the familiar Azura and Ventura. We always enjoy sharing with you David’s gentle films of the cruise ships he and Elizabeth have been on. This time it is the Ruby Princess which is a Grand Class Cruise ship, very similar to the Azura and Ventura so you can compare those passenger tour videos. Most of this class of ship were built by Fincantieri who were subject to a wonderful documentary recently on the building of a cruise ship. The Grand Class has a number of sub-classes which, reveal the slight modifications. The Ruby Princess is a Gem class but between this film and Jean’s detailed Azura film you will know the Ruby Princess before you sail. She can have 3080 passengers and 1200 crew, has 19 decks and can travel at 23 knots. We think this is the ship author Sally Katz set the book Virgin Voyage on, from the series Solo Cruiser. It has a great staircase that anyone would want to walk down. If you have read the books you will know what we mean.
David feels the ship is a little more contemporary than the Venture and can be a little noisier than the Ventura or Azura especially when pop videos are played on the sea screen. They are all family ships. This a film of life around the ship. Enjoy and please share your comments and pictures. If you are worried about how to choose which cruise, which ship and where to go, take a look at our how to choose a cruise blog. Why not have a look at the LATE DEALS over a coffee.
