Just doing some maths – assume 35 new ships to hit the seas in maybe 3 years or so, 35 x 3000+ guests x 40 weeks (some stay for two weeks) – there is a need for over five million new cruisers a year and we estimate 50,000 trained crew. The best crew will flock to the ships that pay and tip the best. Plus there is still a need to fill current ships, and this is a conservative figure. Who was predicting that the cruise industry would get itself into such a high leveraged risk position? – Cruise novel author Sally Katz. While some of her books are a touch raunchy, the cruise novel AMERICAN PORTRAIT sees a dark plot evolve, with a sub plot of the desperate need to improve marketing that sets a company director in a romance that he shouldn’t be. It bases the story round the inner huge growth of the spa centres, and the connection of the ships to TV themes as a portrait competition plays out on board. It is also a fantastic statement of how elegant the new older but younger woman is. Hey, its a good read and very intuitive. Click the picture.
In the mean time, yet another new ship to add to the three from Branson, two from P&O, two from SAGA, some say 11 from MSC, 6 on top of the six for Viking and we could go on and I am sure it would reach way over 30. MSC Grandiosa has new features, new emotions and it starts to get ultra digital and will house 6,334 guests. I have under estimated Sally Katz figures.
MSC Grandiosa is due 2019 along with so many others. MSC CRUISES FROM SOUTHAMPTON – click here With Cirque du Soleil at sea as well as a huge amount of top class entertainment that the bigger ships can afford. But are there enough really great entertainers to go round, who want to live their lives 45 weeks of the year away from their families to afford guests a city of entertainment and dining. Sally Katz has a point. These ships are a family holiday dream, a multi generation home with something for everyone and a spa to make you look young, a gym to help you feel young.
The keel was laid on 15th November, 2017, at the STX France shipyard in St Nazaire where the coin ceremony took place at the keel laying. That means it will be done in two years! Because the inaugural cruise is set for November 16, 2019, in the Mediterranean. It will visit Civitavecchia for Rome, Palermo (Sicily), Valletta, Barcelona and Marseille. You will see from our film of Valletta in Malta it cannot build and increase its ability to take tourists quick enough. The port is there, it has the deepest natural harbour in the Mediterranean. What is is doing is preparing for these huge ships that can only dock in huge places. That is as much forethought and wisdom that Sally Katz has shown. Click picture for circa £2 Kindle or paperback for your next cruise. Then take a look at how those with vision are building for the burst of cruisers.
