C&M VASO da GAMA new and refurbished smaller ship

The Pacific Eden has left P&O Australia for Cruise and Maritime. P&O have an ongoing program to update ships in line with a Carnival continued objective. The Pacific Eden, a much loved ship will stay working Australia under its new name Vasco da Gama. It is a name we are surprised is not on more ships as it is the name of the historic Portuguese explorer. Whilst traditional, it was a name picked by the Columbus Club members, which is the loyalty scheme at Cruise and Maritime. The C&M Ocean fleet is now 6 ships, though this one will not really serve the UK market. It will operate under CMV’s German brand, TransOcean Kreuzfahrten, with two home ports; Bremerhaven and Kiel. When in the Australian summer season, December to March, it will sail from Fremantle (Perth), a fantastic place to visit.

Christian Verhounig, CEO and chairman of CMV said: “We are grateful to all those Columbus Club members and trade partners who took the time and trouble to vote. From the thousands received, the winner is Vasco da Gama with 46 percent of the total vote.”
